How I Clean My Engagement Ring (super easy!)

If you don’t know me personally, I got engaged to my awesome fiancé back in March 2024 ♥

The photo above is us during our beach engagement shoot! I'm obsessed with my ring and the vibes of this photo shoot. Everything about the proposal was perfect, but one thing I had to get used to was wearing an engagement ring! I was never a jewelry girl growing up, so getting used to wearing a ring on my finger was new territory for me.

After a few months of wearing my engagement ring, I realized I love gold jewelry. I think it makes my skin color pop (as a Filipina) and it just looks so elegant. I ended up buying lots of gold rings to wear with my outfits! I love them.

Last week, I noticed my engagement ring and some of my other gold rings were starting to get dirty from wearing them all the time. I take them off when I shower, wash dishes, or bake, but you can only keep a ring clean for so long.

I found a YouTube video about how to clean a gold engagement ring, but I wanted to share the less toxic way that I did it. After cleaning my ring, it was SPARKLING! It seriously looked as good as the day I put it on.

DISCLAIMER: I have an 18k gold engagement ring. If you have an engagement ring made with different material, I would research if its the same process before doing this. You can never be too careful!

You’ll need:

  • Bowl
  • Warm filtered water
  • Dr. Bronner’s unscented castile soap
  • Toothbrush
  • Soft cloth for drying

Directions:

  1. Fill a bowl up with enough filtered water so the ring will be completely submerged when you drop it in. But don't drop the ring in yet!
  2. Microwave the water for 30 seconds to get it a little warm.
  3. Add unscented castile soap. I put a few squeezes in, but you can add as much as you want.
  4. Drop the ring in then let it soak for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
  5. Take out the ring and use a toothbrush to clean the hard-to-reach areas of your ring.
  6. Dry with a soft cloth and voila!

Pretty simple, right? Best part is there’s no nasty ingredients coming in contact with your ring. I was so blown away by how clean my engagement ring got and I had to share! Hope this helps all you engaged girlies out there. ♥
